significado de emo

Orígenes

Una persona que se considere "emo", fuera del ámbito musical, son personas que con su estética intentan parecer personas tristes y amargadas, basan todo su físico en "problemas emocionales". Durante más de una década, el término "emo" fue utilizado casi exclusivamente para describir el género de la música que predominó en los años '80; sin embargo, durante los años '90, como la música emo comenzó a converger en el sentido popular, el término comenzó a ser utilizado como referencia más amplia que su denotación anterior de la música.

El origen de la palabra "emo" en sí mismo es confuso, la mayoría de la gente lo asocia a la palabra "emocional" desde los '90. Más recientemente, la palabra "emo" fue vista como contracción del "hardcore emocional" o del "emocore", que eran las designaciones populares del género de la música.

Significado del término

El término "emo" también se ha utilizado estos últimos años en Internet por parte de ámbito diversos; como forma de insulto,viene a significar memo o gilimemo especialmente hacia los que parecen emocionalmente inestables. Similar a la blasfemia popular, tiende a ser utilizado como insulto general aun cuando no es directamente aplicable. Otros utilizan el término "emo" para describir una sensación de depresión. En inglés el término emo también se utiliza como una abreviatura para la palabra inglesa emotive, que significa emocional.

Estos "enfrentamientos" subculturales tienen un carácter trivial puesto que se limitan a discusiones sobre códigos de vestimenta y gustos musicales por lo que se trataría de algún tipo de intolerancia mutua entre subculturas juveniles. También pueden incluir un debate sobre ideologías o formas de ver la vida o "actitudes" que de uno u otro "bando" endosan como "inherentes" a las subculturas, con la dificultad que supone definir esto.

Música

Generos con influencia emo preferidos:

Cine y Televisión

En la mayoría se trata de películas de tipo drama-romántica y películas con estética gótica, pero a la vez con un cierto contenido "emocional". Sienten aprecio especial por las películas de Tim Burton, sobre todo en la película animada The Nightmare Before Christmas o como es llamada en su versión en español "Pesadilla antes de Navidad" ("El extraño mundo de Jack" en Latinoamérica). Su personaje principal, una calavera animada llamada Jack, el "Rey Calabaza", se ha convertido en todo un símbolo y personaje para la comunidad Emo. "La Novia Cadáver (España) o El Cadáver de la Novia (Latinoamérica)" también se ha convertido recientemente en otra de las películas insignia Emo.

También últimamente se esta viendo gran cantidad de citas al personaje de South Park, Kenny McCormick, cuyos colores contrastan muy bien con los colores oscuros (Kenny usa ropa naranja).

En lo que se refiere a actores, Johnny Depp se encuentra entre sus favoritos, posiblemente el primero, especialmente debido al hecho de ser amigo de Burton y de haber dado voz al personaje principal de "La Novia Cadáver" ("El Cadáver de la Novia" en Latinoamérica), así como por su interpretación en la película Charlie y la Fábrica de Chocolate y Eduardo Manos de Tijeras. Aunque cabe destacar que de ninguna manera estas películas están relacionadas directamente a este estilo de vida.

Emo es un término del argot, en principio usado para describir la gama de las actitudes y de los estilos relacionados con la música emo, aunque este aspecto está cada vez más alejado de la acepción que esta palabra ha tomado en el lenguaje. Como adjetivo, "emo" puede describir un estilo de comportamiento o un estado general de infelicidad o melancolía. Es un estilo de vida que la gente adopta; en especial las personas jóvenes

QUE ES NIRVANA ???

Como líder de la banda, Kurt Cobain se encontró a sí mismo referido en los medios de comunicación como "el vocero de una generación", y a Nirvana como la "banda símbolo" de la "Generación X". Cobain se sentía incómodo con la atención que se les brindaba y decidió enfocar la atención del público hacia la música de la banda, retando a la audiencia con su tercer álbum de estudio In Utero. Aunque la popularidad de Nirvana disminuyó en los meses siguientes a la publicación del álbum, buena parte de su audiencia alabó el interior "oscuro" de la banda, en especial después de su presentación en MTV Unplugged.

La corta carrera de Nirvana concluyó con la muerte de Cobain en 1994, pero su popularidad creció aún más en los años posteriores. Ocho años después de la muerte de Cobain, "You Know You're Right", un demo nunca terminado que la banda había grabado poco más de dos meses antes de la muerte de Cobain, escalaba las listas de radio y música de todo el mundo. Desde su debut, la banda ha vendido más de 50 millones de álbumes a nivel mundial, incluyendo 10 millones de ejemplares de Nevermind en los Estados Unidos. Su música continúa siendo emitida por estaciones de radio de todo el mundo.

QUE ES NIRVANA???

Nirvana fue un célebre grupo estadounidense de grunge, procedente de Aberdeen, Washington. Con el éxito del sencillo "Smells Like Teen Spirit", del álbum Nevermind, Nirvana escaló los listados de música en todo el mundo e inició la explosión de lo que hasta ese momento era punk underground y rock alternativo en la escena musical mundial, en un movimiento al que los medios de la época se referirían como "grunge". Otras bandas de la escena musical de Seattle como Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam y Soundgarden también obtuvieron popularidad y, como resultado, el rock alternativo se convirtió en un género dominante en la radio y la televisión musical durante la primera mitad de la década de 1990.
